John 24: 13-35

We struggle with resurrection, with Jesus appearing out of nowhere. We struggle with miracle and mystery. But what's life without magic and miracle? We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience. What is our foundational reality? It's about what story we tell and live – is it a story of “get more”, “take care of your own” OR - a radically different narrative than imperial, colonial and patriarchal power; a narrative of self-giving love, deep acceptance and profound belonging.

How do we believe in a virgin birth, or feeding of 5000+ with a few loaves and fishes? Or resurrection?

Virgin birth = the powerless young woman welcomes and births God;

Miracle of feeding 5000 = people are fed with abundant sharing;

Resurrection = new life coming from death.
